Albissola Marina and its culture

MuDA - Museo Diffuso Albisola

Casa Museo Jorn is part of the MuDA museum network - Albisola Diffuse Museum, born in 2011 from the will of the Municipality of Albissola Marina with the aim of networking the key elements of Albissola culture.
The MuDA is the exceptional theater of a special journey through time and brings with it the desire to bring out the value of Albissola Marina, not only highlighting its great artistic tradition, but also opening up to the enhancement of other fundamental aspects of the town (popular traditions, culture, gastronomy and, why not, innovation). The main actors of this movement are, together with Casa Museo Jorn, the Exhibition Center / Library and the Fornace Alba Docilia. To complete the MuDA Albissolese cultural offer, there is also a series of environmental cultural facilities scattered around the streets of the city: the tour is divided into various pieces composed of open-air works (metal and ceramic sculptures, ceramic friezes integrated into the architecture of the town, elements of urban furniture mainly in ceramic), the Lungomare degli Artisti (collective urban work of art) and the municipal art collection (over 350 works of art distributed in different places of conservation), as well as the various private locations involved

Albissola, land of ceramics

With a ceramic history of centuries, Albissola Marina (together with the nearby Albisola Superiore) is among the founding cities of the AICC, the Italian Association of the City of Ceramics, an award that rewards the great and important ceramic tradition carried on today by many artisans and artists in the area, as well as promoted by the Municipal Administration and by all operators in the cultural and tourism sector.
Ceramics are at home at Casa Museo Jorn too, with various installations by Asger Jorn and other artists who have chosen this very special material for Albissola to leave a mark of their own passage.
